    HBO Game of Thrones

This Sunday night, April 1, we get into the second season and start covering material from A Clash of Kings. I'm looking forward to his, it'll be a big improvement of Sunday 9 PM television compared to The Walking Dead.

I thought it was good but not great. There was one really bad casting choice that kind of dragged it down, I thought. I probably would have liked it more if I hadn't read the books. It was still a good show, mind you.

Lena Headey as Cersei. I don't think she can do subtly menacing yet incompetent well enough and I would have cast someone very different. That and I keep thinking of her as TV Sarah Connor.

When I was reading the book I was basically picturing a younger version of Polly Walker's Atia in Rome.

Spent a very sizable and pleasant chunk of the three day weekend watching the 10 episodes from the first season of Game of Thrones. A good yarn well told. It was also nice to see two actors I really like, Natalia Tena and Sibel Kekilli, continue to do good work even in small roles. Tena was the older girl that the lad was smitten with in the excellent "About a Boy," and Kekilli starred in one of my fave movies of the aughts, the Turkish-German film Head-On.

Will get to the debut episode of Season II, which premiered tonight, shortly.

Carice Van Houten, "Black Book," joins the cast as Melisandre. Apparently, she's really into '80s hair metal.

This episode was over all too quick. Gonna take some adjusting to watch it on a weekly basis.

Huh, I think Headley is great in that role. But I saw the show before I read the book.
This is not my new signature.

My only quibble with casting is that they made Robb so old. Wasn't he like 14 in Book 1?
