    Modular Synthesis

I have been playing around with this neat software called VCV Rack.

    https://vcvrack.com/

It is a digital emulation platform intended to emulate the sound and operation of modular synthesizers. This kind of thing:

It turns out to be a very fun tool for playing around with musical ideas, especially if you are someone like me who tends toward drone-y sounds.

I put this patch together this morning.

FWIW, I'm in favor of you sporting a 70s style shag haircut like that dude, too.

Had a stressful lab. So I came back to my office and built this.

Dick Allen was a true professional singer. He sang in a high, delicate tenor that belied his powerful body.

    dola,

All of the notes in this previous patch are controlled by modules called Turing Machines. These generate semi-randomized series of voltage that are sequentially sent to the output of the module - from there, they can control pitches and gates. There is also some and/or logic built into the module that allows things like drums to be triggered only when specific combinations of steps are activated. Despite being truly random, this ends up creating some surprisingly musical patterns.

This one got a little bit silly.
