frmrly chipperjones10 of OTBL fame.
Several players that look worthy of the #1 pick, but none of them really stand out from the others. Tough choice who to take, I'll probably be debating with myself right up until the end of my time slot.

Seems very believable.

The Highlanders pitching staff finished #1 easily but the hitting was so bad that the team failed to make the playoffs. Hitting needed. To be fair to the batters injuries were a big part of it. Michaud had a 6.9 WAR in 1924 but a 6 month injury limited him to just 12 games. His hitting alone might have been enough to get into the playoffs. Hauser had a 5.0 WAR in 1924 but injuries limited him to 85 games. With Hauser moving to 1B (finally), Roth will provide a platoon in RF with Jimmy Welsh. BTW, Welsh was the object of some scorn during last year's draft but he's turned out to be a very nice pick.
I was looking through the league history and was surprised by a couple of things I saw in the No-Hit history section.
First in August of 1916 Cleveland had three no hitters, two by the same guy (Ed Burnham). Only two other pitchers have pitched multiple no-hitters, both had two no hitters in the same season. The first was also for Cleveland, Alex Leon in 1909. The other was Mike Maldrum for Kansas in 1914. "Maniac Mike" pitched a total of 4 No hitters, one for Boston in 1907, one for Kansas in 1911, and the two for Kansas in 1914. He was an above average starter over his 10 year career; 209 Wins, 2.68 ERA, Fip- of 98, for a WAR of 47.4. His best season was 1910 when he went 32-18 with a 1.88 ERA for the only all-star appearance of his career. In real life the only two pitchers to throw 4 no-hitters are Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax. Maldrum was good but not anywhere near Ryan/Koufax levels.

Maldrum took advantage of the doldrums of the deadball era like none other.
