    Russia

Are we still dismissing this Russia talk as wild speculation? Is it likely they changed vote totals? Not really. Did they engage in targeted propaganda to disrupt democracies across the western world? Certainly. Did they only hack the DNC? No. Then why did they only release that info? Is Donald Trump being blackmailed? And how much did he know during the campaign?

The two-page synopsis also included allegations that there was a continuing exchange of information during the campaign between Trump surrogates and intermediaries for the Russian government, according to two national security officials.
How big of a deal is this now?

Meanwhile, other attempts at Russian cybersubterfuge are less sophisticated.

Hey, look on the bright side: it might be the only check on war with Iran that Trump will actually listen to.

The election influence itself is not that big of a deal. Russia trying to influence election is nothing new, and the reason Trump won was not because of Russia. Russia supported many European parties with money even. Obama tried to influence the Brexit votes, and not like that's abnormal.

China always tried to influence Taiwan election, but often the effect is the opposite. The US influenced Taiwan elections in the opposite way: if the US voiced support of Taiwan after China made threats, it neutralize Chinese threat as Taiwanese election topics. Ukraine elections have been about Russia and EU influences for a long time now. North Korea easily influences Japan and South Korea elections by timing their missile tests.

It's also not abnormal for country leaders to do the bidding of other countries. Tony Blair was a lackey for the US.

I think the issue here is still a Trump issue.

I'm extremely biased, of course, but I've maintained for months that Trump's actions w/r/t Russia fit the pattern of a man with a gun to his head. Figuratively speaking, that is. Probably.

I think Trump's behavior is just like what we can expect from people who lack self-confidence and need approval. It's the small hands.

He got manipulated in a way that we've talked about how Howard Stern manipulated him. Trump just has to brag and can't back down. Russia didn't have a gun to his head. They just got some ideas into his head. And once Trump stated those things, his personality means he has to bend over backwards to support those absurd things.

The issue isn't foreign influence. The issue is having a leader that's easily manipulated.

There was a time I was into that. Not sure why I don't feel that way anymore.

Ya, like one of the ones where you know the world is fucked, the remote is acting up, and you've got less then a day to fix it.
