It's tough with these guys that are high level. Chiesa was starting to turn into a better position, but it was probably wasn't likely that he was going to turn the corner and escape. If they make them fight again, I think Lee wins again. He started that fight terribly, but just muscled his way out of a bad position. I think he's too strong for Chiesa.

Also, if Lee thinks he's going to win grappling exchanges with Khabib, well...good luck with that.

Yeah, I'd favor Lee in the rematch. It's really hard to gauge chokes though. It looked sunk, but he definitely wasn't out so you can never say for sure.

The rule supposedly is intelligent defense, and you can make the argument that if Chiesa stops hand fighting and appears to go limp, you can stop it. I just think Yamasaki should have tried to communicate with the fighter first rather than just stopping it. I feel like Big John or Herb Dean would have done that.

Again though, I think Lee was going to finish this fight sooner or later. Chiesa took a beating the last 3 minutes of the fight.

Yeah, Lee was absolutely dominating that round. If Yamasaki wasn't such a consistently lousy ref I might be more inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt.

EDIT: Okay, I might have been confusing some of his flubs with Mazzagatti who actually finally did get fired, but I feel like Yamasaki is definitely the worst guy of the refs left.
