Pretty sure "casus belli" LITERALLY means "case of war".

Argh, you're right. I was thinking "belli" as in "bella" as in "good" but it's actually "belli" as in the beginning of the word "belligerent". I can't Latin.

I will say this, though, that's the most succinct dynasty thread I've ever seen.
I understand that and fully understand that and I think we had a previous President who did not understand that but I understand that and we have spoken about this before.

Please note this post was made by the 2012 NFL Losers Pool Champion.

I’m sorry, I was trying to impress you. I don’t know what it means. I’ll be honest, I don’t think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.

It's true. Casus belli means "the vagina of a whale".

So I haven't gotten as many games in the DCSS tourney in as I'd like () because I've been stuck on this Banished game. Most of the time my villages die out from some mistake/disaster between 100-200 population; this one is at 450, easily the highest I've ever had.

Tried to play Watch Dogs last night. Driving a car was great (better than GTA, in particular because braking is very powerful) and the streetscapes are breathtaking. Everything else I pretty much hated. That's probably the end of that. Anyone enjoy playing this one? Walking seems so clunky, and there is so much goshdarn information in the game.
And it's one more beer and I don't hear you anymore

Damn that's impressive. I get to about 50 usually before things start getting whobbly and everyone starves to death.

Once in a while, I end up on an interactive fiction kick. It's a weirdly flourishing scene, with lots of tools for people to build their own games (it's also maybe the one scene where women designers might outnumber men). The 2016 Interactive Fiction Competition (which I think is mainly aimed at amateur designers) had 50+ completed entries ranging from Zork-esque parser games to in-browser fiction. I've been playing through the top-10 and they're really great.

    dola,

I've also been working through a game called Counterfeit Monkey, which takes the crossword puzzle aspect of finding the correct parser solution in a game like Zork and makes into part of the fiction. It's really brilliant.
